Academia Los Pinares Hosts the 2025 ABSH Knowledge Bowl Competition

The 2025 ABSH Knowledge Bowl Competition was held at Academia Los Pinares on February 14th and 15th, 2025. The event featured a wide range of questions across multiple subjects, including English Language, Science (Biology, Geology, Chemistry, Astronomy, Physical Science), Social Studies (World History, U.S. History, Geography, U.S. Government, and Current World Events), Mathematics, and Fine Arts (Music, Art, and Drama).

The competition is divided into three categories:

  • Middle School (6th–8th Grade)

  • Junior Varsity (9th–10th Grade)

  • Varsity (11th–12th Grade)

Each ABSH school is allowed to register two teams—Team A and Team B—for each category, with a maximum of four contestants and two reserves per team. A total of nine ABSH schools participated this year: Academia Los Pinares, American School of Tegucigalpa, Allison Bixby School, Escuela Internacional Sampedrana, International School of Tegucigalpa, Mayan School, Macris School, and Seran School.

For the first time in our school’s history, Academia Los Pinares included five 6th-grade students in the ABSH Knowledge Bowl. This decision reflects the administration’s commitment to encouraging early interest in academic competitions among Elementary and Middle School students. It was a great learning experience for the 6th graders as they competed against other schools for the first time in the Middle School category.

In total, 34 ALP students from 6th to 12th Grade represented the school across all categories. It was a strong showing for the PUMAS, with both our Junior Varsity and Varsity teams making it to the finals—defeating tough opponents along the way. Both teams competed with determination and secured second place in their respective categories.

Overall, it was a successful event for the PUMAS. The competition was well-organized, and every member of our school community—students, teachers, staff, and parents—played an important role in being gracious hosts and creating a welcoming environment for all schools. The spirit of friendly competition was felt throughout.

Soli Deo Gloria!
