In the Trinity: God the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.
In the deity and virgin birth of Jesus Christ.
In His atoning death and resurrection.
That all people are sinners and in need of salvation (new birth through Jesus Christ).
That salvation comes by grace alone through faith.
That there is eternal life for the believer in heaven and eternal punishment for the unbeliever.
That all Christians belong to the body of Christ, and form part of the Kingdom community which is the church. All Christians are called to live holy lives.
In the bodily resurrection.
That Jesus will come again.

Memberships

Founded in 1964 by the Eastern Mennonite Board of Missions and Charities, Academia Los Pinares emerged in response to the educational needs of missionary children in Honduras. Initially established as a boarding school in Tegucigalpa, it began with just 10 Primary school students under the instruction of Mennonite missionaries Isaac Frederick and Rachel Moler. Within a year, the school relocated to larger facilities at kilometer 14 toward La Tigra, becoming a home and a comprehensive learning center.
Throughout the 1970s, the school expanded its educational programs to include local community students and added secondary levels. Under the influential leadership of Jerry and Joy Birky, who played a crucial role in the school’s history and the lives of its students for the next fifty years, the institution was legally incorporated into the Honduran education system in 1974. On March 14, 1977, the Board of Missions and Charities announced the closure of the school at the end of the academic year. However, the commitment of parents and mission organizations within the community rallied together to keep it open. By March 24, 1977, the seven founding mission organizations agreed to combine their resources to sustain the school and establish a nonprofit organization, sending representatives to serve on the board.
With vital community support, the acquisition of its current property in 1978, and the relocation of all students to the new campus in 1980, Academia Los Pinares thrived. In 1982, the school helped found the Association of Bilingual Schools of Honduras (ABSH) to foster collaboration among schools for academic and athletic events. After years of striving for excellence, ALP received accreditation in 1984 from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACS), now known as Cognia. It joined the Association of Christian Schools International (ACSI) in 1985 and pursued accreditation in 2006. By 1988, the school also became a member of the National Foundation of Private Educational Institutes in Honduras (FENIEPH). In 1997, both the U.S. Department of State and the Department of Defense recognized the school as meeting the academic standards required for expatriates and employees. During the 2000s, Academia Los Pinares solidified its reputation as a leading institution, shaping future leaders with strong Christian principles and academic excellence while adapting to challenges like political instability and the COVID-19 pandemic.
