The elementary section of Academia Los Pinares has a student population of about 500 students in grades Pre-kindergarten (four-year-olds) through Sixth Grade. Our class sizes normally range from 21 to 25 students. We follow a traditional U.S. curriculum with the addition of Spanish and Honduran social studies. We also have classes in music, band, computer, art, and physical education. Our textbooks are a mixture of Christian and secular. We are a total-immersion English-speaking school. Each teacher teachers Bible using the ACSI curriculum materials.PK - 6
Our day begins with teacher devotions at 7 AM and classes are from 7:30 AM until 2:45 PM. Most children bring their own lunches and the teachers supervise lunch time in the classroom. Hot lunches are also available for purchase.
ALP is fortunate to have sufficient resources and supplies for each classroom. There is a TV and VCR for each of the three classroom buildings. Many classrooms have overhead projectors. Hopefully in the near future, we will have a school-wide computer network.
The elementary school is a community, a team of dedicated Christian teachers with the love of children and teaching at the center of their world. ALP provides teachers with the opportunity to bring Christian ministry to children of the business and government class of Honduras as well as middle-class evangelical families.
